Seven fountains farm restaurant and guesthouse eastern cape south afrika

Welcome

Seven Fountains Farm is a beautiful guesthouse and restaurant that sits halfway between Makhanda (Grahamstown) and the Indian Ocean, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Seven Fountains Farm was built in 1717 by a Dutch settler, Jan Frederick Potgieter and is the oldest farm in the Eastern Cape. 300 years after it was built, Seven Fountains Farm is open as guesthouse, restaurant and for venues.
As many of the original walls from the old fort are still intact, this little gem is a piece of history in the Eastern Cape. The guesthouse focuses on bringing you the joy and peace of nature, while the restaurant serves you delicious food.
Located close to the best wildlife of the Eastern Cape, and with beautiful beaches just a short ride away, this makes for a lovely malaria-free getaway destination. Cities as Makhanda, Kenton-on-Sea, Port Elizabeth, Bathurst and Port Alfred are all within an hour’s drive.

At Seven Fountains Farm we love serving good quality food made with daily fresh products. From home-made bread, butternut soup to a nice French country terinne or a beautiful piece of beef fillet. Our kitchen is unconventional and has influences from all over the world. The restaurant is located in one of the 300 year-old buildings and can sit up to 40 people. There is also plenty of space to enjoy your food outside in the sun.

Seven Fountains Farm offers five double individually furnished rooms and three self-catering cottages which can accommodate up to six persons per cottage in three century-old buildings. The buildings are set in a beautiful garden overlooking the veld up to the mountains. Finishes everywhere are pure and stylish, with crisp French cotton bedding and comfortable fabrics. Children of all ages are welcome.

Seven Fountains Farm is the perfect destination to get away from it all. Breathe in the fresh air and relax. Take a swim in our swimming pool or take a leisurely walk on the farm roads, along the river’s edge. Doze off on the deck or in a hammock. Sit by the water’s edge and have a picnic. Cuddle up with a book from the library by the open fire place or at the look out post. You might even hear the lions roar at night if you’re lucky..

You can find Seven Fountains Farm in the Frontier Country, Eastern Cape. A hauntingly beautiful region with a lot to offer; it’s a vibrant mix of all the best that Africa has to offer. With Makhanda (Grahamstown) at its centre, the Frontier Country is one of the most diverse ecological regions in South Africa, with a variety of biomes that provide unspoilt and spectacular scenery. The area is malaria free.
